Mauviel M'Heritage M250C 6504.30 11.8 Inch Round Frying Pan, Cast Iron Handle Is copper worth it?

My favorite pan, I love this pan. It's incredibly versatile. I use it instead of a straight-sided saute pan (many cooks don't like to do this but it's my preference). The 12 inch copper pan weighs a ton and is not ballanced for tossing food ... so don't think of this as a larger version of your 10" fry pan. It's best sitting on the stove solidly, with you turning the food in it with tongs or a spatula.

There's plenty of room to make a pan sauce, and I like having sloped sides for this--easier to get into the corners with a whisk or spoon. It's also my all time favorite pancake making pan. It heats evenly from center to edge, which is a pretty good trick for a pan this large.

Being copper, it's every bit as responsive as you'd expect. The feeling of control is addictive. You'd have to be an arsonist to burn anything in this pan. But in spite of its quick heating and cooling nature, it does a nice job of browning meat--even big pieces. Not as aggressively as heavy cast iron, but I have no complaints. It's also a perfectly capable roasting pan. I've roasted everything from chickens to vegetables to pork tenderloins it, usually at 500 degrees. Cleanup can be a drag after this, but such is life when you roast with lots of fire. Only drawback is that handle is long, so it will take up much more than its fair share of the oven.

And then there's price. Copper is up ... these have gone from expensive to outrageous. I think you'd have to consider it a luxury unless you're loaded. The good news is that there's no reason to have a huge set of copper. For me I just have the ones that I saute or make sauces in--this, and a couple of sauce pans. My 10" fry pan is aluminum, and much better for tossing food than even the 10" copper pans.
Excellent, I have an electric stove and not being able to switch to gas in my building, I decided to test the pans from Mauviel to see if they can give you the balance and control of gas on an electric stove. They do. Simmers are now easy and you can actually control the increase and decrease of heat to the pans with quickness and precision. I can actually say that these pans make electric stoves function better than gas. The simmers as an example do not require constant adjustments. Do not be too concerned with food sticking to the pan because of the lack of non-stick on these pans. With the use of Pam spray and oil you have a non-stick surface, I have removed omelettes from the pan by just tilting the pan. Skip the Pam spray and use oil only and you can have perfectly created small bits of caramelized flavor called fond. My wife did not wanted to use them at first but they worked so well that even her is a believer. These pans will make you cook food as it was meant to be cooked, with absolute control of the entire process. Additionally they look superb on a wall rack and will last generations.
Is copper worth it?, (What's this?) I could hardly wait to get copper. The hype is so compelling, so I bought this from Amazon. First off, it is wicked heavy. No flipping omelets in this baby. That I cam live with. Anyways, the big test came when I had to make latkes for 12 hungry people. A latke is a pancake made from ground vegetables, eggs, and a little matzoh meal or flour. They are fried in hot oil, turned once when brown on one side & when brown on the other, drained and put in a warming oven to stay crisp. A good pan is essential for them as you want them evenly brown and crisp, but tender in the center. Not too thick, either. They should be thin, not as thin as a crepe, but not like those frozen or deli bought ones made with shredded potatoes that are over an inch thick. Yeckk.. Well. I put this copper pan on one burner, and my Calphalon tri ply stainless fry pan on the other big burner. Following directions for the copper pan, I put it on medium heat. The Calphalon was on hifh heat. Both pans heated in the same amount of time. I had a hand on the rim of each pan, and both were equally hot when I added the oil. The oil became swirly looking in the same amount of time in both pans. I put the same number of spoonsful of latke batter in each pan. The latkes browned equally evenly in both pans and were done at the same time. Bolth pans produced beautifully crisp, evenly browned latkrs. The only difference was that the heat was lower on the copper pan.

The triply stainless got a quick spritz off Dawn Power spray, and went into the dishwasher, coming out clean and shiny the next day. The copper pan had to be cleaned by hand, and the copper bottom had to be polished with expensive copper cleaner -- and it still looked streaky after at least 15 minutes of polishing. The stainless pan just had to be hunb on the pot rack, its bottom and interior both shiny and clean.
Much Better Than Aluminum, The copper conducts heat beautifully and the stainless interior really lasts. Things stick to the bottom which is then deglazed with wine or broth. Expensive but worth it.

Heuck 33000 Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron 10-1/2-Inch Chicken Fryer great pan

Absolutely love it, (What's this?) I have ordered several different cast iron pans over the past few months. This one is by far the best. It comes very well seasoned and cooks excellent right from the start. Just make sure you take the time to re-season it and care for it correctly. I was a little disappointed to find out that the cover is only heat safe to 350 degrees while the pan is safe to 500 degrees but not a big deal.
great pan, (What's this?) We have used this for over a year and it is awesome. We mainly use it for deep frying anything that we need and it keeps an even heat and works great. If you are going to regularly do sauces in it then I would recommend going with an enamel or porcelain coated one as the acidic nature of tomatoe sauces takes the seasoning right out of the pan. It does not hurt the pan though. Heck it's cast Iron! It will survive about anything and still keep cooking great.
GREAT!, (What's this?) WE GAVE THIS TO A FREIND OF OURS WHO COOKED IN IT JUST HOURS AFTER SHE RESEIVED IT. SHE IS A VERY PARTICULAR COOK...SHE LOVED IT! BUY THE WAY CHRISTMAS DINNER WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN THE SAME W/OUT IT.
horrible smelly covering on pan, horrible pan, (What's this?) this pan came"pre seasoned" the pre seasoning was so toxic smelling I would not use this pan until i had actually gotten got my drill with a sandpaper bit and ground the covering off the entire pan and lid. When i first placed pan on stove it smelled like gasoline. Lodge preseasons its pans with olive oil apparently Heuck preseasons its pans with a petroleum based product or paint. As I use cast iron because I don't want the toxcicity of teflon I found this appalling, i would rather use the teflon, at least that doesn't smell! The actual pan is nowhere near as smooth as the Lodge pan ( for approximately the same price). The lid is not one piece but has the little knob screwed on the top. I fear the screw will melt if subjected to the high temps the rest of the pan should handle. The pan itself does not appear to be even some areas are clearly thinner than others.
HEUCK chicken fryer, (What's this?) Item is great preseasoned. It takes a lot of the hassle out of purchasing anything cast iron.
Great size but quality?, (What's this?) The skillet is a great size and cooks like any piece of cast iron should. I enjoy cooking with cast iron! The only issue bottom of skillet was not flat when received. I had to grind down a ridge left on bottom of skillet. The ridge made the skillet wobble back and forth while on stove.
Very good for the money, The fryer works well depending on what you are doing. My wife has a hard time with things sticking to the pan, but she is new to the cast iron cookware. Make sure you season it well.

The surface may be better, but for the money I can live with the imperfection.... Overall, a good product for the money.

  • Will last for generations
  • Superior heat retention
  • Even heat
  • Pre-Seasoned ready to use no need to season
  • Use on the stove top or campfire

  • Will last for generations.Superior heat retention.Even heat.Pre-Seasoned ready to use no need to season.Use on the stove top or campfire. Don't just purchase a piece of cookware purchase cast iron cookware that will last for generations. Pancakes, eggs, bacon, casseroles, cakes and pies somehow taste better when cooked in heavy pre-seasoned cast-iron cookware. Cast iron creates superior heat retention, heats evenly, and loves a campfire, unlike flimsier pans. Pre-seasoned out of the box saves you time and helps with easy cleanup.

Swiss Diamond Nonstick 8" Cast-Aluminum Fry Pan Little giant in quality

Love this fry pan!!!, (What's this?) I had been waiting on a local kitchen wear store to get this particular pan in -- but got tired of waiting. Found it on Amazon -- at less than store price and free shipping.
I like this pan, I've had this pan for at least 2 years, probably closer to 3, and I've used it easily hundreds of times in that period. I do not have any problems with a coating on the bottom and it still works great for me. I'm not sure what the other reviewers have done with their pans, but mine is holding up great, with no particularly careful use. I cook in it same as any other pan I own, and wash it same as any other (non cast iron) pan I own. In fact, I only saw the negative reviews because I am buying this pan as a gift for my mother. The absence of teflon is a highly favorable factor to me.
so far so good (owned for 2 wks), First of all I'd like to say that I've only used it for 2 weeks so I'm not sure if it'll be all scratched up after 1 year as some of the reviewer said. So far we like it. We use it to make taco meat and warm up taco as well, it's been great.
Great pan for omelets, (What's this?)
Great buy!, (What's this?) The pan is well made. Clean up is exceptionally easy.
Just started using mine yesterday ..., We got a gift certificate to a kitchen specialty store for our wedding, so we put it to use getting one of the 11" frying pans.

In the morning I made a 5-egg omelette with onion, peppers, tomato and spinach. The egg cooked through without browning too much, and I didn't have to do to much in the way of lifting the edge of the egg and running the uncooked egg underneath before it was mostly cooked.

In the evening, I used it to thicken my feijoada (Brazilian black bean stew), sauteeing bacon, garlic & onion, then adding 2 ladlefuls of beans cooked soft, mashing down and refrying the beans until they were nice and thick before adding it back to the stew.

As far as nonstick goes, this pan is no nonstick that even water doesn't want to get it wet.

The pan got up to heat fairly quickly. In fact I'll have to use lower heat than I did with the other nonstick skillets I've had in the past with the disk bonded to the bottoms. Cleanup was ridiculously easy: hold the pan under the water coming out of the faucet, and all the food particles wash away .. I used soap and a medium bristled brush just to get any remaining oil off the pan.

So far so good, works a treat. Time will tell if this pan gets coated like every other nonstick pan I've ever had, but I am heartened by hearing the saleslady at the kitchen store tell me she's had one of these pans for five years, and it still works as well as the day she got it.
Still a Great Pan!!, (What's this?) I had seen an infomercial for a similar type product. It appeared to be exactly what I was looking for, although I'm a little leary of infomercials. Then I started researching non-stick pans and this brand stood out in customer reviews.
Stay Away!, This pan scratches ans sticks. And the manufacturer does not stand behind its goods. To top it off, I was told not to use olive oil on high heat.
Little giant in quality, (What's this?) Wonderful skillet.
Excellent Cookware., We started out with the 28cm frypan and have added the 20cm frypan and a roasting dish to our collection. We only ever use high temperature oils such as grapeseed oil in these pans and they work as good as new. Need to be re-seasoned from time to time. We were told by the shopkeeper NEVER to use low temp oils such as olive oil in non-stick cookware and it will last for years. We've had our Swiss Diamond cookware for over 3 years now.

Farberware Classic 12-Inch Nonstick Deep Skillet Buyer Beware

Low Quality Farberware Skillet, (What's this?) The nonstick surface on this 12" nonstick aluminum Farberware skillet started peeling after 6 months of mild use and proper care. This peeling renders the skillet unusable.

Will try to return but the internet feedback indicates little consumer success with this Farberware issue.
Great while it lasts... which seems to be less & less., (What's this?) Great size, love the handle, must hand wash unfortunately, & last but not least: It will last about 6 months even with great care. My first one lasted 2006-2010, 2nd one 2010 to 2011, 3rd one purchased 2011 in the spring and by Fall is was useless. Losing finish & has not been non-stick for a few months now.
Love this non- stick skillet, (What's this?) It works very well. I have not any problems, and I have had it for over a year now.
Buyer Beware, (What's this?) Bought this pan about 10 months ago. Have been very careful with it. Never put it in the dishwasher and always used plastic utensils and the non stick coating is destroyed. Used it a couple of times per week, if that. It's not even worth the one star that I gave it. Buy something else.
good pan, just hope you don't need the lifetime warranty, good pan, just hope you don't need the lifetime warranty. this complaint is not pan specific. If you have read the tons of consumer complaints against Meyer corp you will see that they do NOT honor there lifetime warranty on the non stick surface. I had my pan for 2 years and the surface stopped working. we have never used the pan in the oven, nor put it in the dish washer and we don't even own anything but plastic pan utensils. all of which makes our pan a perfect candidate to be replaced. according to the website, you don't need an RMA or anything just UPS the pan. well i did. the UPS tracking shows them getting it some 4 months ago and no word from them. after checking around on line, this is typical of them. save your $10 in UPS shipping and buy a different brand. vote with your dollar and spend it else ware.
Well done, Farberware!, (What's this?) This is a great, sturdy product that has lasted 6 years of near-daily cooking. Its deep enough for making a variety of foods, and is also well-manufactured. I have paired with skillet (i call it my go-to wok) with the Farberware 12-inch glass lid, which I also purchased on Amazon. (The lid is a must with this pan) Its an excellent pan that you can use to make sauces, brown your meats, or even cook your eggs.
Not so great, Ive had the pan a month or 2 its never been in the oven or the washer, nonstick works well, holds lots, but its warped, and I rarely use max heat on my ceramic top, but this pan is headed for the trash can. Would be great on gas or coil type range.
Farberware Classic 12-Inch Nonstick Deep Skillet, Farberware Classic 12-Inch Nonstick Deep Skillet

This product was not what it appeared to be. It is very cheaply made. I also ordered the lid which didn't fit onto the pan. I had this shipped to my daughter in CT and they threw away all the packing receipts or I would have returned it.

    Horrible.
Outstanding, (What's this?) Pan was in great condition, still using it would highly recommennd to my friends. Shipped very fast.
Farberware skillet, (What's this?) This is a great skillet. Do wash by hand. I put my first one in the dishwasher and ruined it. This one I just rinse with a bit of dish detergent and plain hot water and it is like new again.

Anolon Advanced Hard Anodized Nonstick 8-Inch Open French Skillet Love it

Love it, (What's this?) This replaced an old non-stick pan that had become very scratched up over the years and it's great to have a nice clean new one. The rubberized handle is a real help as it doesn't heat up. The non-stick works great and I wish I'd replaced the old one much sooner. Recommended.
Eggs stuck immediately, I bought this pan because Consumer Reports gave it such high marks. The very first time I used it, my egg whites stuck to it. I used a plastic spatula as recommended as well. I'll be getting my money back as it has a 60 day trial period.
Pans couldn't be better, (What's this?) I just bought a home with an electric stove. I hate those things, but it was less expensive to buy a new pan than a new stove (though its still on the list!). All I can say is wow. I got an 8" and a10" and they are both spectacular. They need very little oil and very little clean up. I am back to flipping eggs without a spatula, and I have to make sure to wash the pan right away because it looks clean as soon as the eggs are out! I can't recommend these pans enough. I am back to happy cooking again with the electric stove.
great pans, (What's this?) The Anolon Advanced pans cook evenly, look nice, and clean easily. My favorite pans ever! The larger ones, when full, may be a bit heavy for some people, but they work so well. The only downside at all to this little frying/saute pan is that Anolon doesn't seem to make a lid for it (they do make lids for the 10" and 12" skillets). But lids from some of my other pans fit it, so no problem.
Too early to tell - but looks good, (What's this?) This is a heavy duty non stick pan that works well so far. The surface has held up under fairly high heat without flaking or peeling. It is much too early to see if this thing will pass the time test. Most of these pans do not hold up well and break down quickly. This one appears to be high quality initially - durability is the key with these things.
Awesome little pan!, (What's this?) We use this pan every day for eggs and other small cooking chores. Build quality is fantastic, it's nice and heavy to it doesn't wobble on the stove, and the non-stick is still non-stick after eight months of daily use. I would definitely purchase again.
Cooking and cleaning, (What's this?) This Anolon skillet is a wonderful addition to my other smaller skillet. Most likely I will be buying a Anolon Wok in near future for my Indian vegeterian cooking. It is so easy to clean.
anolon skillet, (What's this?) I love the skillet, great quality. It has a great weight to it. Amazons service is very fast as usual.
Great for a while..., For the first few months this pan was excellent for our main usage: cooking eggs. Then slowly the non-stick faded and now we can't cook eggs in this pan without extensive sticking. So much for durability! Looks nice, but no better than cheaper non-sticks.
    Great value!, (What's this?)

Calphalon Commercial Nonstick 10-Inch Everyday Pan with Lid Great item!!

Disappointed, (What's this?) Not impressed at all. Although it is under lifetime warranty, the pan is not nonstick anymore after 1.5 years with once per week usage.
Everyday Pan is a Winner, (What's this?) I was looking for a small "everyday" pan because there are only two of us. Most were 12". This Calphalon pan is the right size for my stove and my family. It cooks beautifully, can go directly in the oven, and looks good enough to go directly to the table. I normally buy All-Clad but their pan was so much more expensive and the Calphalon version performs well.
Great item!!, (What's this?) The 10" Calphalon Non-stick Everyday Pan with lid is the most useful and used pan in my kitchen and is not available for purchase in any store that I have visited. I was delighted to find it on Amazon and very pleased with service and price.
A Great Pan, (What's this?) As long as you are preparing a meal for yourself rather than for a family, Caphalon's Nonstick 10-inch Everyday Pan is just the one you want to fry a small piece of meat or fish and a serving or two of veggies. Just a tablespoon of olive oil on medium heat is sufficient to saute the vegetables and later cook a serving of meat or fish. Another feature of this pan is how easily it cleans after it cools. Amazon sells it for a very reasonable $39.99. I really love this frying pan.I use it more than any other.
One pot meals for one or two, (What's this?) This product is perfect for meals for one or two people. I can brown meat and/or vegetables in the pan and then transfer it to the oven for roasting and deliver it to the table with a serving spoon. My only problem to date has been warming the pan, (receiving a telephone call that lasted over a half hour) and the pan and lid burned. The interior of the pan looks all right; however, it now tends to stick; and the interior of the lid is a copper color, Does anyone know how to clean the lid and make the pan stick proof again. Other than my absentmindedness, this has been the perfect pan for my household.
wonderful stuff, (What's this?) This product is great. I will be buying more "Calphalon". This will be recommended to all my friends....
Caphalon Commercial Nonstick 10 inch everyday pan with lid is the best, This pan is the best I have ever owned. I have had it for over 4 years now, and it continues to perform perfectly. I use it nearly every day to cook all kinds of food, even in the oven. The lid is beautiful - no staining, or scratching. The pan itself is intact, and the gouges or scratches that I have put into it by accident are not causing the non stick to peel or flake. The outside of the pan looks used of course, and I kind of like it that way. Have I burned food in it? Oh yea. Cleans up with minimal effort. I have never used anything but a dish cloth with a little dish soap on it, even when I burn stuff in it and I have never ran it through a dishwasher. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great multifunctional pan - worth every penny even if made in China.
The Everyday Pan, (What's this?) I now own three Everyday Pans! Just bought a new house so one is there, the other is in the apartment we use & the third is in the RV we have. I also have a 12" Everyday Pan and use it when the crowd comes over but the 10" is perfect for my husband and I. I pretty much use it everyday either for breakfast or dinner or both! The best part is I can pick it up with both hands & don't have to worry about a long handle hanging out over the stove or over another burner. Not having a long handle helps with storage also [especially in the RV]. They are easy to clean and durable and I'm glad it comes with a lid.
perfect size for one person, (What's this?) this pan i waited to review until i've had long enough now to cook a few things on the stovetop, i fried a chimichanga in a small level of hot oil, i sauteed ground beef filling for enchiladas and a small batch of chili, and in the oven a couple small roasts and a very tasty browned on BOTH sides batch of scalloped potatoes. i am pleased to report everything turned out wonderful and even on the scalloped potatoes the required hand washing after a soak was a breeze!the lid i also love.
This pan is great!, (What's this?) I had looked at this pan for years and finally decided to purchase it. Since I received it, I have used it on a regular basis. The nonstick properties are great. Nothing sticks. The pan has a nice heavy weight which makes it wonderful for use in frying, sauteing, etc. The size of the pan is great for me. I would like to order the 12 inch pan for entertaining.

    I would definitely purchase again.

Viking VSC0513 13 Inch Stainless Steel Fry Pan Viking pan

not for omelets, (What's this?) I purchased this expensive stainless steel fry pan because the non stick ones I have all have scratched in hardly any time at all, despite using only wooden spoons or nylon spatulas, and we do not like the idea of eating toxic non stick coating in our organic food.

We received this 9 1/2 inch Viking fry pan yesterday from MetroKitchen.com - ordered through Amazon. We very carefully followed the manufacturer's directions for washing and drying and then for seasoning the pan and again washing and drying it.

This morning I thought I put plenty of oil in the pan, preheated it per the manufacturer's instructions, then added chopped onions and mushrooms and then the beaten eggs when the veggies were partly cooked. I used medium low heat and covered the pan.

When the omelet was done it would NOT come out of the pan. It took a couple of minutes of hard scraping with a nylon spatula to get what was now a SCRomelet out and onto our plates. Good thing we didn't have company because it tasted great but looked completely awful.

After soaking the pan for about a half hour and washing it repeatedly with hot soapy water and a nylon scrub pad there were still whiteish spots in the bottom. Only after adding half vinegar and half water and soaking it again did the spots come out. Now it looks bright and shiny again, but so MUCH work!

I reseasoned the pan using instructions from a different web site and am hoping that the next time I use it the results will be better.

I have also written a review of the Viking 8 piece set which we purchased from Amazon at the same time. You might want to read that review to find out about what looks to me like Viking's non existent customer service for their "lifetime warranty".
world's best cookware, I write this now not about this purchase but about all the Viking cookware that I have used over the years. I have never had an 8" fry pan in my kitchen but surely expext the same as always. This will make 8 and will make my kitchen cookware as good or better than any one.
Viking pan, (What's this?) I bought this pan to give as a Christmas gift ... he wanted the best cookware that money can buy.
I could tell by the smile on his face when he opened the box that it was a winner. Only Viking was what he wanted.
Beautiful, but extremely heavy, (What's this?) I bought this pan for my new induction stove top but ended up returning it, because it is much too heavy to be useful or to flip its content around. A beautiful design and extremely solid otherwise. I wish they would make a 10 inch version of it...
Great Fry Pan, I received this as a Christmas gift and absolutely love it. It has a large cooking area.

The skillet is 11 x 2 inches and has 7 layers of aluminum alloys.

Everything browns and cooks evenly. There are no hot spots. Foods can be sauted in the skillet and then finished in the oven or broiler up to 600 degrees F.

Unlike most other skillets, this pan has a wide bottom area. The skillet is 11 inches, the bottom which actually comes in contact with the heat is about 10 1/2 inches.
get what you pay for ?, I don't have any problem with someone buying standard cookware or the best i guess with the cheaper stuff you might have uneven cooking /hot spots/ slooping sides / handle falls off & as far as stainless cookware goes all of it wont be nonstick (in responce to another reviewer )only nonstick is nonstick you can't seer to well with nonstick med heat max viking is like all clad made to last personaly i don't own any viking my friend does, says its good quality i have 1 all clad piece & a bunch of italian made cast aluminum nonstick which i like alot because it heats fast & evenly& low cost & caphalon &cuiesinart & italian portabelo stainless if you spend lets say 600.00 ( copper bottom or sanwich/type/ riveted solid forged handles 18/ 10 steel etc. or more on top quality cookware & use it every day you will get youre moneys worth. if you use nonstick dont spend a lot it all gets scratched overtime & just toss it. good stainless should last 20 yrs so with nonstick its convenience stainless durability.even with stainless you have to be somewhat easy on it thats why commercially they use mostly all alluminum it can take a beating like nothing else & costs little .

    Scanpan Classic 8-Inch Fry Pan

Best pan I've ever used..., (What's this?) Not exactly sure how/why it's so different from others but it just works so great! So easy to clean and nothing ever sticks even after 2 years of abuse.
Easy to clean and non-stick if you do this...., I was tired of non-stick coatings breaking down over time, flaking into the food, and eventually having to throw away a still-good stainless steel frypan. I investigated Scanpan at a gourmet food cooking utensils store. They demonstrated that you cannot cut or scar the surface with anything as it is titanium. But it is necessary to either use a little oil/oleo/butter when cooking or put a few drops in and wipe it over the surface with a paper towel.

I cook a lot with a wok and am used to "seasoning" after cooking with a little oil so that has worked for me. Food never sticks. I've used my pan for 8 years and it is blackened. But it is my favorite for small portions. I don't see how I will ever wear it out. And the handle is thick and comfortable.
poor warranty / customer service, Scanpan Classic 12-1/2-Inch Fry Pan I have used scanpans for several years, after awhile the handles come loose, it bubbles, wont release etc. The first time I returned the pan to the factory, they did send me new one. When that handle became loose, the factory sent me an obvious second. The pan was so far out of round it was almost egg shaped. Not good. I havent purchased any scanpan products since. I've had the best luck with swiss diamond. By the way, I do take very good care of my cookware, including copper and all-clad. I would caution against spending the money on scanpan, particularely if you expect them to honor their warranty.
Not worth buying, I own two 8" fry pans and one 10" fry pan. The first 8" was returned to the company almost immediately because everything stuck to it. They sent me another one and it is just as bad. I have used these two fry pans perhaps 5 times each.
They are undoubtedly the worse pans I have owned and I own thousands of dollars of fry pans. Don't waste your money on these items. There ads are all hype and no delivery.
Consistently Reliable, (What's this?) Possibly the best non-stick pan on the market relying on different technology than Dupont's Teflon coating...it is remarkable and very serviceable...
Best pan I've ever owed, Scanpans are amazing. They do not scratch and nothing sticks. I won't buy any other kind of nonstick skillet. Love this pan.
Best all-purpose pan ever made, (What's this?) I can't tell you how many different things I've used this pan for. From pancakes to pork to omelettes, this pan never lets me down. Most importantly, it is one of the easiest things to clean that I've ever owned.

    Pros:
    -Easy to clean
-Good size for the almost all dishes
-Can put it in the oven (or at least in for 20min at 450)
    -dishwasher safe
    -non-stick that isn't teflon based
-can use metal utensils on it

    Cons:
    -doesn't come with a lid
    -a bit pricey

Overall, this pan is a bit pricey but totally worth it. I bought the 10.25 inch version, which I think was around $60 or $70 at the time. It's held up pretty well over the last year or so with me and my roommates using it at least twice a day. Sometimes we get lazy and cut meat in the pan, so it as a few scuff marks in the bottom.
after 5+ years here's what you'd want to know...., I bought my 14 inch Scanpan at a chef supply store more than five years ago. The first year or so I used this pan constantly for everything from fried eggs to fried rice. The non stick surface was excellent, and I was extremely happy with the performance. At first, since it was rated to do so I did use metal utensils on it; I did manage to create two small scratches though so at some point I switched to using wood or nylon utensils in this pan. BTW, since they say metal utensils are okay to use I felt the scratches were a warranty issue and long story short the warranty claim was denied.
Awesome!, I love being able to use my metal utensils... this pan is CRAZY durable. As a restaurant manager the only thing keeping me from having nothing but Scanpan in my home is the price (we restaurant managers tend to be poor.
Eliminates using extra pans, (What's this?) I wanted a 14 inch frying pan to make cooking for additional guests easier. I have 2 older Scanpans that guaranteed the finish whether metal or non-metal utensils were used. I did have to return one of the older Scanpans that had pitted, but have been happy with this brand overall. My older pans are not truly non-stick and do require some soaking depending upon what has been cooked in them. The new pan does recommend using non-metal utensils to protect the non-stick finish. It cleans beautifully, so you don't need any non-stick spray. Non-stick spray can actually make cleaning non-stick pans much more difficult. Afterall, that's the point of getting a non-stick finish to begin with. I don't use the pan often, but have been very happy with it's performance. It is about 14.5 inches across and 23.5 inches from handle to handle(outside measurements). I also purchased the glass lid and have used it every time I've used the pan. It is somewhat heavy, so having the small extension handle on the pan has been very helpful. The extension handle does get hot so make sure to use a good hot pad when lifting. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase and would recommend purchasing both the pan and glass lid if you cook for larger groups. It's a good investment.

Before first use, remove all packing materials, labels and tags and wash pan in hot, soapy water. Rinse well and dry. Assemble the glass cover handle, if applicable, following the instructions on the poly bag that holds all handle parts. Tighten by hand, only, do not use tools. Make sure the small washer that goes on the underside of the glass cover is flush with the glass surface. If not, turn the washer around and re-assemble the handle. 2. Heat pan to working temperature. Medium heat is typically sufficient for frying and sauteing. Since each stove top has its own settings, find the best heat setting for your stove by starting at a lower setting, then gradually increase until water splashed on the pan surface evaporates immediately with a sizzle. High heat can be used for other applications, like boiling water, stir frying, oven roasting etc. Scanpan Classic Cookware is oven safe to 500 degrees F. 3. Scanpan Classic can be used without oil, butter, or other seasonings, making it especially suitable for low fat diets. 4. After use, remove food and clean Scanpan Classic with warm, soapy water. Scanpan Classic wipes clean with a sponge. Scanpan Classic is dishwasher safe, however, Scanpan recommends using extra care if you decide to clean the pans in the dishwasher to prevent damage to plates, glassware, etc. 5.

Lodge Logic 5-Quart Double Dutch Oven and Casserole with Skillet Cover

Love My New Double Dutch Oven w/Skillet Cover!, (What's this?) This thing is awesome and beautiful. Mine came with some slight imperfections on the handles from casting, but I'm OK with that. It's a perfect size for me and looks great.

My first time use was to deep fry some chicken to help season it further. It performed beautifully. I love it. <3

Treat yourself (or the cook in your life) this holiday season and get the Lodge Logic 5 Quart Double Dutch oven with Skillet Cover. Seriously.
Great deep fryer, (What's this?) I purchased this oven solely to use as a deep fryer instead of using the Le Creuset French ovens I already own. It's a little taller and flares more than a comparable LC vessel meaning that I have a deeper reservoir of oil and still a comfortable margin of safety. Cast iron is perfect for deep frying foods such as rumaki, onion rings, tempura, deep fried shrimp, calamari, fish filets for fish tacos, etc. Once your optimum temperature is achieved you can reduce the burner to a lower flame as the heat holding qualities of cast iron ensure a lesser temperature drop off than stainless or aluminum vessels. Unlike the other Lodge Dutch ovens, this model doesn't have a lip extension for the lid which means a clip on thermo will fit the side without a problem.
I'm in love!, (What's this?) I've used this twice in the short period that I've had it.
First, yes it is heavy. But I'm no weight trainer and managed just fine when it had a nice sized roast in it. I figure using this will help keep my muscles tone as I age :)
I never did buy a brush to clean it with, so I've been using coarse salt. That works just fine. I paper towel dry it, then let the pilot light in my oven make sure it's completely dry before coating with a bit of olive oil.
I'm curious, are we supposed to treat the outside of it with oil too?
So far, It's been on the stove top (gas) to brown the meat, in the oven to cook, and on the grill to cook. I love the fact that this thing is at home anywhere. I bought it to replace a slow cooker.
If however, you want to do a turkey, you need a bigger size. This can easily handle dinner for 4 however, and I love the one pot meal concept......yet everything cooks like it had it's own pot. The barley, despite being at the bottom of the pot for 5 hours, was not mushy. The meat and sweet potatoes were tender.
Cast Iron Two-fer from Lodge, (What's this?) I bought this as a gift and it was very well received. The reviews helped secure my decision to purchase this. The idea that both the top and bottom can be used independently really sealed the deal. Nothing holds the heat as well as cast iron and I trust Lodge's quality. This should last a lifetime. Great combination.
Use the lid almost daily, (What's this?) A few years ago, I was tired of cooking on Made in China "non stick" cookware and looked for something Made in the USA. Lodge Logic cast iron pans fits the bill. All of their original cast iron line is still made here. IF you are looking for Made in the USA, avoid their Enameled Cast Iron line ("Made to our exact specifications in China").
Product was very good - Amazon was not so good., (What's this?) The Lodge Dutch Oven was very good as I knew it would be.
My experience with Amazon was very disappointing. There was an error during the ordering process and I had to submit the order again. I ended up with two Dutch Ovens ordered.
Within five minutes of placing the order I tried to cancel one of the orders and Amazon said it was too late. I ended up with two Lodge Dutch Ovens. The error was not my fault but a problem on the Amazon site.
Lodge Logic, (What's this?) We have enjoyed the Lodge Logic cast iron cookware. We have had no problems with them & in fact, have only had good experiences with them. We use them on a regular basis.

In another review, there was concern about sticking. We do not normally have a problem, and if we do, it is usually because we have washed it with soap. It is best not to wash it with soap, and to ALWAYS put a light coating of oil on it after use, and separate them with a paper towel.

The Lodge Logic website www.lodgemfg.com has a "Use & Care" section that gives very good information about care of cast iron cookware. We highly recommend reading it prior to using the cast iron cookware. It gives instructions well beyond the little booklets that come with the product.

The other thing we enjoy about two particular items is that you get two items for one. The top is a cast iron lid that can also be used as a skillet, and we do.

And their griddle has 2 sides as well. Lodge Double Play Reversible Grill Griddle Item model number: LDP3 (ASIN: B002CMLTXG)
Lodge 5qt. dutch oven, (What's this?) I bought this dutch oven for camp fire cooking. I wanted a lid for it. Lodge lid also doubles as skillet. The chili is always better and the popcorn is the "goodist" according to my grand daughter.
Awesome Product Line, (What's this?) We recently had to return a gift of the Martha Stewart pots because apparently the ceramic explodes and chips. Yikes!! So we looked for a replacement and we just love this entire product line.
versatile!, (What's this?) love this pot and lid! the lid is great for cooking small dishes for two or three, scrambles eggs nicely and good for a grilled cheese or small quesadillas or omelets. and, not having a traditional long handle makes it easier to store. the pot is a great size - large enough for stews and boiling potatoes and pasta, but not gigantic and still easy to store (and lift to the sink). invert the lid onto the pot and it's a small double boiler. takes a while to heat the pot for searing on an induction cooktop. eggs stick if it's not hot enough but cook perfectly if it's the right temperature.

Lodge Color 11" Skillet, Emerald Green

wish I had bought Le Creuset, (What's this?) I purchased this pan in Feb. for my daughter hoping it would be almost as good a Le Creuset, which is a lot more expensive. I'm sorry to say it was a very poor substitute. After only a few months the enamel is chipped and the pan looks years older than it is. I must stress that my daughter takes care of her things. So now I am buying her a quality pan that will last.
As good as a Le Creuset., (What's this?) After using this skillet I can state that it has all the features of the French Le Creuset line at a quarter the price. No need to say more than that.

If you like using cast iron cookware you will be well served with this line of Lodge Enamel which however, unlike the original made in USA products, are now made in China. Though I prefer to buy American, I am so satisfied that I went ahead and ordered the Lodge Enamel 10 inch Grill Pan as well. These products have an enamel coating on both the outside and the inside surfaces and, unlike the original Lodge products, require no seasoning.

Cast iron cookware works extremely well on induction plates as the temperature can be adjusted in very fine increments and the entire pan heats evenly through magnetic induction without any hot spots. The combination of cast iron and induction yields great results.

Four stars instead of five as the inside enameling should be applied in a thicker coat to better hide the casting grain.
Super Cool, Awesome pan, BUT... the color in person is more like a olive green (not as dark though). I still love it and it will go pefect with my other enameled cast iron pots.
Big, heavy pan cooks evenly, (What's this?) My wife needed a larger cast-iron skillet to cook with, so we agreed to get this one.
So good I bought the whole Lodge family, (What's this?) This is an outstanding product as is all the other Lodge cast iron enamel coated products I have purchased. I have the 3 qt enameled coated casserole and 7 qt enameled coated dutch overn as well as 2 frying pans (one coated and one not coated). I have some Le Creuset and these are as good if not better. Easy to clean and retains wonderful heat. Works GREAT on induction cooktops or portable induction too!! I am amazed at the price compared to others of the same quality! I bought the handle mitt and a glass lid for the uncoated cast iron skillet too which I love.
Lodge enamel skillet, (What's this?) Skillet arrived in good condition and cooks wonderfully. Clean up is a breeze with the enamel coating.
skillet, (What's this?) I gave this as a gift to my Mom. She really likes it. The company I purchased it from was great! They were out of the emerald and called to see if I wanted to wait or get another color.
Close to perfect, Just received this skillet as a gift. It works great on my glass top stove, providing fantastically even heating.
I've used it in the oven as well with great results. The enamel surface on the inside of the pan is a little rough, but
so far nothing has stuck to it and feel better about enamel than a modern non-stick coating. It's a little on the heavy side,
but it's cast iron after all. Overall quality is very good, especially considering the price.

I'll update the review if I find this skillet to be anything but excellent after more extended use.
Great Skillet, (What's this?) All the benefits of Cast Iron, none of the draw backs.

  • Open skillet made of enameled cast iron
  • Hand wash; oven-safe to 400 degrees F; wood or silicone utensils recommended
  • Chip-resistant porcelain enamel surface eliminates the need to season
  • Measures 11 inches in diameter; limited lifetime warranty
  • Ideal for sautéing vegetables, meats, and seafood

  • Open skillet made of enameled cast iron.Hand wash; oven-safe to 400 degrees F; wood or silicone utensils recommended.Chip-resistant porcelain enamel surface eliminates the need to season.Measures 11 inches in diameter; limited lifetime warranty.Ideal for sautéing vegetables, meats, and seafood. This Lodge Color skillet is a classic piece of cookware that offers a time-tested alternative to Teflon-style nonstick coating. Great for sautéing meats, vegetables, and seafood, the piece releases food well while browning beautifully. It is also safe in the oven, so a frittata can go from stovetop to oven to table without switching pans. Measuring 11 inches in diameter, the skillet comes in attractive colors and can hang from a pot rack. It also includes a helper handle, which is critical, as the piece is hefty. As with its other enameled cast iron cookware, Lodge recommends washing this skillet by hand and includes a limited lifetime warranty. --Emily Bedard With its lively palette and durable construction, the Color line from Lodge is great for everything from main dishes to desserts. Handcast from molten iron in individual sand molds, the line features a sturdy construction that conducts evenly and retains heat well. A double layer of chip-resistant, non-reactive porcelain enamel coats both rims and interiors, while glossy, colorful enameling covers the exteriors. Handsome as well as functional, the enamel simplifies use by eliminating the need for seasoning the cast iron while creating an ideal browning surface.

Le Creuset Forged Hard-Anodized 8-Inch Nonstick Shallow Fry Pan

Great Cookware!, (What's this?) I love this cookware. I am in the process of trading in my old cookware for something new and decided to try Le Creuset because the reviews had been extremely favorable. This skillet is heavy, but not overwhelming. The handle stays cools while cooking. I use silicone utensils so as not to scratch the surface, although it is my understanding that metal utensils can be used as well. Cooking is a pleasure with this pan. It's great for frying eggs or making stir fries. There is a glass lid that fits this pan, but it must be ordered separately.
excellent pan, (What's this?) 2009 was the year we bought a bunch of new cookware, including two different brands of hard anodized pan. One was a store brand, and has begun to show its wear and tear. The Le Creuset pan is in the same condition as when we bought it, cleans up easier, and is a pleasure to cook with, as with all Le Creuset cookware it is simply above average in quality and well worth the price.
Is it worth the jacque?, Well, I need a deep sided frying pan to cook those Voila and Bertoli meals and I've always used Le crueset for my Dutch ovens and sauce/fry pans. So I ordered the Le Crueset Quadrumvate of toughened non-stick 12"deep frying, 12" low skillet, 9" skillet and 12" lid. When they arrived they shrank an inch and are now 11" deep fryer, 11" low skillet 9" skillet and 11" lid. called the seller(not amazon) and was told the description and stock had changed? Ok...well the next thing I saw was Made in China, strike two. Here's an example of paying too much for outsourced manufacturing. I expected Made in france, sacre bleu! then I noticed the induction plate and went back to my QVC set of old. Here's the good, I always liked the QVC set with the induction plate and they cost the same. The heating was even and nice. Le Crueset did include in their directions that you need to gradually heat the skillets which is paramount.
no surprises, (What's this?) This fry pan performs as advertised. Even, quick heating on an induction cook top. Quick clean-up. 'nuf said.
Favorite and most used pan in the kitchen., The title says it all. I love this pan and find it worth every dime. The size is ideal for simple sauteeing, it's light enough to flip your food with ease, it's durable enough for any task and it provides perfectly even cooking because of its solid base. This pan has helped me achieve my absolute best omelettes and flawless scallops, among many others. Take care of it and it will last you a lifetime, honestly.
Blows away my All Clad LTD.., (What's this?) I can't believe this pan only cost me $40. After spending the last two years complaining about my All Clad pans loosing their non-stick quality, I couldn't take it anymore.

I found this pan on Amazon and ordered it. It came yesterday and I just used it for the first time this morning. I cooked two eggs in the pan and couldn't believe it. Not only did they NOT stick, they almost flew out of the pan when I picked it up and made a swirling motion. I flipped the eggs like a pancake!!

I own a few Le Creuset pots and have been very pleased. This is my first hard anodized pan from them. I have owned a full set of All Clad LTD for many years. As soon as I finish this review I will be ordering a 12" pan.
Best pan so far, (What's this?) I have been using the 8in. pan for a month. It is really non-stick. Mostly I cook eggs with it, they are so fluffy and never burnt. Of course it is too expensive, so only four stars. I am saving up for the 11in. pan. If money wasn't an issue I would purchase one of each size and height, and a set for my mom.
Even cooking, (What's this?) This is the most wonderful pan I have ever used! I made the same omlet in my Wearever and in this one and this one made it completely light and golden where my other cheap pan always makes them dark brown. It cleans up easily with soap and water and has a great weighted feel to it. I am very happy.
Great pan!!, We use it on a electric stove since about 1 1/2 years now and this is by far now my favorite pan. Nothing sticks, it heats evenly and it easily can be cleaned, no scrubbing, etc.
a great pan, (What's this?) After reading reviews of all 8-inch pans, I chose this and am VERY happy I did.

Like other pieces in Le Creuset's collection of Forged Hard-Anodized cookware, the pan features hard-anodized stainless-steel construction that goes through a hot-forging manufacturing process for twice the strength and to ensure it will never warp. The unit's magnetic aluminum-encased stainless-steel base heats quickly and evenly and can be used on any stovetop surface, including induction. The pan also comes with a metal-utensil-safe nonstick coating that allows for lower-fat cooking (no need for excess butter or oil) and effortless food release. Furthermore, the cookware's hollow cast stainless-steel handle comes riveted for strength, remains cool while cooking on the stovetop, and offers a comfortable grip for confidence when lifting or transferring.

Vinaroz Die Cast Aluminum with Ceramic Coating 28-Cm Fry Pan with Lid and Vent, Blue

Diecast Aluminum Ceramic Coated Frying Pan, I absolutely love this pan!! It heats up quickly with lower heat than a normal frying pan. Nothing sticks to it and it cleans up easily with a paper towel. There is no more mess to go down the drain and clog your sink - just throw the paper towel away and wash it. I have even cooked bacon in the pan and it came out very crispy. Even cheese doesn't stick to it. It is amazing and I have been cooking for over 35 years.
VINAROZ SKILLET / FRYING PAN WITH COVER, (What's this?) I purchased this pan because it was large, heavy, and had a ceramic coating. The glass cover is well made and has an easy to grip knob. The fit and finish are excellent. The skillet handle is large and sturdy. In addition; it is deeper than the average skillet which in my case is definite plus. Clean up is easy and this skillet heats evenly. It is not quite as "stick free" as a teflon pan but the difference is minor. The ceramic coating should last indefinitely. After using this pan, I would never purchase another teflon pan.
So much better than teflon, (What's this?) This pan is amazing. Nothing sticks to this. NOTHING. Not even the oil. And it doesn't scratch as easily as teflon either. In fact, it's so non-stick that I am having a hard time flipping things when I cook. They just keep slipping away.
Happy Wife, (What's this?) My wife loves this. Now I must buy 2 more for her. She likes this better than our $2500 cookware set. Non stick is amazing, much better than teflon. It says not to use metal utensils so you must treat it carefully like the other non stick coatings.
    Great Buy, (What's this?)
Excellent, (What's this?) I bought this for my aunt for Christmas and she absolutely loves it. She asked for the best non-stick pan I could find. I had never heard of this brand, but took a chance. She said nothing sticks to it. Food that is supposed to be crispy, like bacon, is crispy. Eggs slide right out. I may buy one for myself.

  • PTFE-free
  • Rapid and even heat distribution
  • Inner white ceramic coating
  • High performance and dishwasher safe
  • Non toxic, non stick

  • PTFE-free.Rapid and even heat distribution.Inner white ceramic coating.High performance and dishwasher safe.Non toxic, non stick. These cookware are made of die cast aluminum and the cooking side is ceramic coated for a nice and smooth surface to cook on; it is easy to clean, healthier due to the need of less oil to cook and a lot more resistant than other non-stick conventional materials used in the industry. By using the ceramic to cook, the food will cook more evenly in less time due to the superior heat retention, and they are dishware safe for more convenience.

Universal Housewares Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron 15 Inch Skillet

LOVE IT!, (What's this?) I have always wanted a cast iron skillet, and I am so glad I chose this one. It is perfect, large enough to fry for the family. I am looking forward to passing this down to my children and their children, as cast iron skillets only get better with age.
BIG? Yes. Beautiful? Yes., This is our first cast iron skillet. The wife and I had been lurking around, watching some cooking shows and the ol' cast iron skillet came up over and over again. Time to get one. I bought it for a Christmas present for her last year.

I don't do anything half a$$ed. I bought the biggest and baddest one out there. At first, my wife was like "Oh %$#@, that thing is a monster!" However the more we've used it, the more we decided that the size is fantastic even just for 2 people. Try blackening 4 salmon filet's on a 10 or 12 inch skillet. Not gonna happen. How about a whole bunch of breakfast potatoes for the overnight visitors? Pour the hole bag into this baby. Heck we just cooked some scallops and an almond encrusted trout in it side by side tonight, both turned out spectacular.

Just figure that this pan is not one you want to put away in a cupboard, and take back out again every night. This is a pan that will live on top of your stove and will often get raised eye comments about its size. Never once have we heard anyone say, "That thing is too big!" Most of the time the comments made are, "Wow, nice skillet!"

Of course it's a bit big for camping and we'll probably pick up a smaller one for travel, but for the home this has become our defacto skillet when things need to get hot to cook. Don't be offset by the fact that it IS a big honkin' piece of metal when you first handle it, and that the box it comes in (as was ours) will probably be trashed. If you like to cook in a cast iron skillet, and you often have the occasion to cook for more than 2 people, this is your pan.

Just make SURE that you have two GOOD silicon 'grabbers' for it. We have a silicon handle slip on cover and a 'glove' holder for grasping the tab on the front (both from Bed Bath & Beyond) so you can get a good grip on it while moving it to the sink. I don't care if you are a WWF wrestler, you will need two hands to big this thing up. That is the only task that needs careful attention. She gets hot and she is heavy, but with the right tools and using both hands, even my 5 foot, 100 pound wife can wield it with confidence towards the sink.

And don't ever wash it! Rinse it with hot water, and if any burnt stuffs don't come off with a gentle scrubbing, put it back on the stove and boil some water in it then gently scrub away the residue, rinse again and dry it with the heat from the burners and she's good to go.
WOW!, (What's this?) We've had this skillet since last Christmas and it's great! True, it's a small labor hand-washing and seasoning it after every use, but it's great quality and we use it for a lot of our meals (although we use the 12" Cast Iron Skillet 80% of the time.
HUGE AND HEAVY, (What's this?) This cast iron skillet works wonderfully. It is gigantic and can cook enough for the whole family. Watch out though because it is very heavy.
Super sized, (What's this?) This pan was less expensive than smaller ones in stores and it's preseasoned!!! There's so much room in this pan for more than one type of food, we use it at home and camping and have great results everytime.
Great! And less expensive than Lodge, (What's this?) I read the reviews for the Lodge brand skillets and they were mixed. It sounded as if the newer ones cracked under the heat.

So I found this one. It's great, and cheaper than the Lodge one.

I was looking for something better than a wok. Woks are useless on normal American kitchen stovetops. They are made for deep fire pits that they use in China. We need to use a flat-bottomed, cast-iron pan to get high heat for stir frying. I made some awesome Thai stir fry with this pan.

It's heavy, but that's what you need. Use a pot holder for the handle. You can get those silicone sleeves that stay on the handle.

It's pre-seasoned, so things don't stick too much.
Great skillet but make sure it'll fit!!!, (What's this?) I have absolutely no problems with the quality of this skillet. It was pre-seasoned perfectly, the thickness of the iron is fine. Even the weight is manageable for such a large skillet. But I would suggest before purchasing it, makes sure it'll fit on your stove and heat evenly. Our stove is a little too small for it. We've tried using two burners, but that leaves the middle section cold. And we've tried centering it on one burner, but that leaves the outer rim cold. So just ensure you have the space for it on your stove.
Cooking surface does not heat evenly, (What's this?) This was purchased for my adult son. The only problem is that it is a little too big for his burner so the entire cooking surface does not get hot. I'm sure it would be great on a larger burner.
heavy, pre-seasoned, but has a flaw, (What's this?) I was so excited to get this pan. It's very heavy and huge! It's well seasoned, and exactly what I needed. One major flaw for me, though. The pan is not flat on the inside, and all the oil will go and puddle on the sides. it's higher in the middle, and the food or oil on the sides will cook well, but the middle will burn. I'm not able to fry anything, which is what I bought this for, because unless I'm using a whole bottle of oil, the oil will pool only on the sides.
Welcome addition to any kitchen and a good gift for a cook, (What's this?)

  • Outdoor/Indoor use
  • Great for camping
  • Superior heat retention and heat distribution
  • Great for frying or making paella dishes
