All Purpose, I already have a Lodge lid that fits this fryer-skillet so I can use it as a covered roaster.
You can brown a pot roast in it, add the rest of the ingredients, cover and bake or cover and simmer gently on the stove top.
Makes an excellent heavy fryer.

Yes, it's heavy, but the helper handle is great.
As with any new cast iron, use it several times before cooking acid foods (such as tomatoes) in it.
Perfect size pan for family dishes! MADE IN THE USA!!!!, (What's this?) MADE IN THE USA!!!!! There are so may reasons to love this pan. Every time I use it I feel good about providing jobs in the USA and the quality is excellent. It's the perfect size for sloppy joes, spaghetti sauce, or chicken dumplings. We are a family of four and this pan is very useful. I like the deep sides and the diameter is perfect for my burners.

Awesome multipurpose skillet!, (What's this?) I'm amazed at how good this skillet is! I used it to make scrambled eggs and then some indian chicken curry. The skillet heats so beautifully that it is a pleasure to saute and onions brown perfectly without burning!
It IS really heavy though and a bit difficult to clean; but I'm working at those issues and hopefully will find a method that works for me.
I am never leaving cast iron now., (What's this?) Fell in love with it the first time I fried an egg. I can crack a egg on the side of it without holding the handle and the pan does budge. That combined with the great even heat transfer of cast iron made the perfect fried egg.
This is the first cast iron pan I have bought and now the only one I really use, despite the 6 other non-stick and stainless fry pans that now sit in the cupboard.
It is pre-seasoned, but not to a non-sticking degree.
Exellent, (What's this?) It is a great pans for most cooking, including cooking with liquid. No mess around the pan due to higher side. It sounds strange but I really can bake a little home made pizza if I don't have a griddle. The only complain to Lodge is, the sticker, when I peeled off the sticker mark is there, I have to scrub multiple times with baking soda to remove the mark. I also boil (short boil)some water at the first time like my other new one. I think this pan is very practical. The food does not stick (with a little oil), healthier than regular non stick pans, last for a very long time, a bit heavy though....

Great for pan roasted potatoes and sauteed vegetables, (What's this?) I bought this pan about a year ago, and I use it every single day. It's a great for pan roasted potatoes, and sauteed vegetables and greens. Stir-fried vegetables are easy to make with this pan. So are fried rice dishes. I also use it to make large omelettes. The lid that comes with the 5 quart dutch oven fits this pan.
It's easy to clean. I've used cast iron pans for over twenty five years. I do scrub it with a little soap once in a while to remove the rancid fat odor. However, I wipe it dry, oil it, and heat it on the stove on low heat for 5 minutes or so after that. With a little maintenance, these pans will last forever and are a must in every kitchen. It's so easy to eliminate nonstick pans if you use cast iron ones.
